Dr Sean David Vanniasingham is a consultant psychiatrist experienced in general psychiatry, addiction medicine, and neurostimulation treatment.

Dr David graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelors in Medicine and Surgery and subsequently attained his post-graduate degree from the Royal College of Psychiatrists. After completing his psychiatry residency training, he practiced as a psychiatrist at the Institute of Mental Health (IMH) and the National Addictions Management Service (NAMS).

Dr David has a vast experience in treating patients from both inpatient and outpatient settings. He has treated a wide variety of conditions including depression, anxiety, OCD, ADHD, psychosis, addictions, stress-related conditions and insomnia. He is also trained in in the practice of neurostimulation treatment modalities such as electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS). Dr David is a firm believer of practicing a bio-psycho-social model approach in the holistic and recovery-oriented care of his patients.

Dr David is passionate about the education of young doctors. He was awarded the National Healthcare Group teaching recognition award for medical educators. He has also presented at conferences and given public education talks. Dr David is a fellow at the Academy of Medicine Singapore and is currently serving as an executive committee member of the Singapore Psychiatric Association.

Dr Sean David Vanniasingham is a consultant psychiatrist experienced in general psychiatry, addiction medicine, and neurostimulation treatment.

Dr David graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelors in Medicine and Surgery and subsequently attained his post-graduate degree from the Royal College of Psychiatrists. After completing his psychiatry residency training, he practiced as a psychiatrist at the Institute of Mental Health (IMH) and the National Addictions Management Service (NAMS).

Dr David has vast experience in treating patients from both inpatient and outpatient settings. In his general psychiatry practice, he treated a wide variety of conditions including mood disorders (e.g. depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder), obsessive-compulsive disorder, psychotic disorders (e.g. Schizophrenia), neurodevelopmental disorders (e.g. ADHD, Autism, intellectual disabilities), stress-related conditions (e.g. work and military-related) and insomnia. To help treat his patients with complex and treatment-resistant conditions, he went on to further hone his clinical skills by training in the practice of neurostimulation treatment modalities such as electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS). At NAMS, Dr David has seen many patients and their families who have been significantly afflicted by chronic addictions. He has treated patients with alcohol and substance misuse, behavioural disorders such as gambling addiction as well as dual diagnosis conditions. Dr David is a firm believer of practicing a bio-psycho-social model approach in the holistic and recovery-oriented care of his patients.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr David has had a variety of leadership, mentoring and teaching roles. He was a clinical tutor for NUS and NTU medical faculties and was involved in training of psychiatry residents, family medicine doctors and nursing students. He is a teaching faculty member of the Singapore Medical Association’s Centre for Medical Ethics & Professionalism. Dr David was awarded the National Healthcare Group teaching recognition award for medical educators. He has also presented at conferences and given public education talks. Dr David is a fellow of the Academy of Medicine Singapore and is currently serving as an executive committee member of the Singapore Psychiatric Association.

Dr David is a proud father to two children. He enjoys cooking and spending time with the people he loves.
