Mara is a qualified psychotherapist who specializes in providing support to partners of individuals dealing with addiction. She strongly believes that addiction affects not only the person struggling with substance or behaviour abuse but also the family members. Mara believes that participating in partner therapy can be vital in mending and supporting relationships affected by addiction.

Mara has a Master of Counselling (Advanced Family Therapy) from Swinburne University, Australia. She uses an integrative approach to therapy, which includes the Personal-Centered Approach, Psychodynamic, Systemic, and Structural Family Therapy, and Gottman Method Couples Therapy. Her goal is to help committed couples restore their relationship that has been affected by significant issues such as affairs, trauma, and addictions.

Mara is originally from Argentina and has over 20 years of experience working in international companies. Before moving to Singapore, she worked in Argentina, Brazil, the United Kingdom, and the United States. She gained diverse experience working with cross-cultural teams, managing conflict resolution, and implementing motivational programs. Mara speaks English, Spanish, and Portuguese and supports the LGBTQA+ community.

Mara Hubana provides counselling and psychotherapy services across various developmental stages, including child, adolescent, adult, couple, and family counselling.

With a Master’s degree in Counselling (Advanced – Family Therapy) from Swinburne University in Australia, Mara has extensive experience working with individuals, couples, and families from diverse backgrounds, addressing a wide range of emotional and behavioural issues. Before her career in counselling, she held positions in the technology and finance industries across multiple countries, giving her a nuanced understanding of different cultures and worldviews. These professional experiences underscore the significance of prioritizing mental health and supporting individuals undergoing life transitions within various systems (family, religion, work, school, friends, values, and beliefs).

Mara employs research-based therapeutic approaches in her sessions, including the Person-Centered Approach, Psychodynamic Therapy, Systemic and Structural Family Therapy, and Expressive Art Therapy. She recognizes the influential role that creative expression plays in facilitating communication, self-discovery, and emotional healing for individuals, couples, and families. She tailors her sessions to meet each client’s unique needs using Positive Psychology. Additionally, Mara has completed Level 1 Practicum Training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy and utilizes the Gottman Connect program to help committed couples build their friendship and address crucial relationship issues, including affairs, trauma, and addictions.

Her professional expertise encompasses performance enhancement, habit control, depression, anxiety, grief, attachment issues, eating disorders, cultural adaptation, and relationship challenges. Mara is passionate about aiding individuals in self-development, fostering self-confidence, and overcoming traumatic experiences.
