Vikram Nair is a dedicated peer support specialist known for his people-centered approach in assisting people navigating a spectrum of addiction and mental health challenges.

Growing up in Singapore, Vikram encountered challenges early on, diagnosed with Dyslexia, ADHD, and Depression in his youth. Despite these hurdles, he attained his medical degree from St George’s University, Grenada in 2022.

During his clinical placement in New York City in 2019, Vikram started his own recovery journey, a commitment he continues in Singapore through active participation in support groups online. In addition to personal growth, Vikram continually refines his knowledge and peer support skills, drawing from the collective wisdom of the local community.

Vikram’s vision extends beyond sharing his personal story and lived experiences. He leverages a background in medicine to contribute meaningfully to the well-being of those he supports. Passionate about tackling addiction, shame, and trauma within the LGBTQ+ community, Vikram strives to hold a safe and supportive space for individuals seeking assistance. He blends his diverse expertise to cultivate empowering and meaningful conversations around recovery.

Since completing the Peer Support Specialist Course in 2022, Vikram volunteers at WE CARE Community Services, regularly participating in their addiction drop-in centre. When he is not working, Vikram finds comfort and fulfilment in crocheting and dragon boating over the weekend.

Through his combination of personal experience, professional insight, and diverse interests, Vikram exemplifies a holistic approach to peer support, reflecting a commitment to both personal and community well-being. He advocates for a collaborative approach to mental health treatment, embodying empathy, and dedication in his work.
